Dato’ Malik Imtiaz Sarwar

A lawyers' lawyer, Dato’ Malik Imtiaz Sarwar is one of Malaysia's leading advocates.

With more than 30 years experience as a litigator and reported decisions in a diverse range of practice areas to his credit, he has firmly established himself as a point of reference in dispute resolution. Regularly consulted and briefed as counsel in high value and complex litigation in civil, commercial, administrative and constitutional law matters, he is a familiar presence in the appellate courts, the High Court and the arbitration circuit (for a cross-section of reported decisions of note, click here). His expertise was acknowledged by the Kuching High Court in Re Malik Imtiaz Ahmed bin Ghulam Sarwar [2020] 8 MLJ 413.

Dato’ Malik holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Commercial Law with Distinction from the University of Hong Kong and a Master of Studies (M.St) in International Human Rights Law from Oxford University with Distinction for which he read as a Chevening Scholar. He was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1994, after having read law at the International Islamic University, Malaysia.

He was the recipient of the 2009 Index on Censorship Freedom of Expression Award for Law and Campaigning. He has served as a member of the Bar Council, Malaysia and has been a member of the Penang Pardons Board since 2009.

Lim Yvonne

Lim Yvonne holds an MA in Law from the University of Cambridge, U.K. and is a member of Gray’s Inn. She was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in September 2014 after completing her pupillage under the tutelage of Malik Imtiaz and was made a partner of the firm in January 2021. Yvonne’s experience from her prior in-house roles at Khazanah Nasional and 500 Startups include corporate M&A, fund formation & management, and venture capital investments. She appears regularly as assisting counsel to Malik Imtiaz in a wide range of complex or high value commercial and civil disputes.

Khoo Suk Chyi

Khoo Suk Chyi holds an LL.B (Hons) degree (First Class) from the University of Hull, U.K. Upon obtaining her Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) in 2016, Suk Chyi commenced her pupillage under the tutelage of Malik Imtiaz. She was admitted to practice as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in November 2017. Suk Chyi appears regularly as assisting counsel to Malik Imtiaz in a wide range of complex or high value commercial and civil disputes.

Wong Ming Yen

Wong Ming Yen holds an LL.B (Hons) degree (First Class) and an LL.M (International Human Rights Law) degree (Distinction) from the University of Liverpool, U.K. Upon obtaining her Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) in 2018, Ming Yen commenced her pupillage under the tutelage of Malik Imtiaz Sarwar. She was admitted to practice as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in August 2019. She appears regularly as assisting counsel to Malik Imtiaz in a wide range of complex or high value civil and commercial disputes.
