Dato’ Malik Imtiaz Sarwar

A lawyers' lawyer, Dato’ Malik Imtiaz Sarwar is one of Malaysia's leading advocates.

With more than 20 years experience as a litigator and about 200 reported decisions in a diverse range of practice areas to his credit, he has firmly established himself as a point of reference in dispute resolution. Regularly consulted and briefed as counsel in high value and complex litigation in civil, commercial, administrative and constitutional law matters, he is a familiar presence in the appellate courts, the High Court and the arbitration circuit (for a cross-section of reported decisions of note, please go here). Imtiaz read law at the International Islamic University, has an LLM from the University of Hong Kong and a Masters in Studies in International Human Rights Law from Oxford University.

He was the recipient of the 2009 Index on Censorship Freedom of Expression Award for Law and Campaigning. He has served as a member of the Bar Council, Malaysia and been a member of the Penang Pardons Board since 2009.

Chan Wei June

Chan Wei June, a senior associate in the firm, holds an LL.B (Hons) degree from the University of Liverpool, U.K. She was admitted to practice as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in August 2012. She appears regularly as assisting counsel to Malik Imtiaz in a wide range of high value commercial, civil and fraud disputes. Her portfolio also includes both international and domestic arbitration.

Surendra Ananth

Surendra Ananth

Surendra Ananth holds an LL.B (Hons) degree (First Class) from the National University of Malaysia. He was admitted to practice as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in July 2015. He appears regularly as assisting counsel to Malik Imtiaz in a wide range of complex or high value commercial, civil, constitutional and administrative disputes. He also appears as lead counsel in various public interest and civil litigation cases in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Federal Court. His portfolio includes both international and domestic arbitrations. Surendra is an emerging opinion leader and contributes regularly to various publications. He currently serves as the Co-Chairperson of the Malaysian Bar Constitutional Law Committee. He is also actively involved in various domestic and international human rights advocacy groups. Surendra is currently reading the Masters in International Human Rights Law program in the University of Oxford.

Lim Yvonne

Lim Yvonne

Lim Yvonne holds a B.A. (Hons) degree in Law and a M.A. degree from the University of Cambridge, U.K. She was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 2013 and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in September 2014. Yvonne’s experience from her prior roles at Khazanah Nasional and 500 Startups include corporate M&A, fund formation & management, and venture capital investments. Yvonne appears as assisting counsel to Malik Imtiaz in a wide range of complex or high value commercial and civil disputes. She has a penchant for human rights advocacy and currently serves as Ambassador for the Women’s Aid Organisation, an NGO in Malaysia.

Priscilla Chin holds an LL.B (Hons) degree (First Class) from the University of Reading, U.K. She was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 2015. She was admitted to practice as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in January 2017. Priscilla appears regularly as assisting counsel to Malik Imtiaz in a wide range of complex or high value commercial and civil disputes. She currently serves as a member of the Malaysian Bar Constitutional Law Committee.

Khoo Suk Chyi holds an LL.B (Hons) degree (First Class) from the University of Hull, U.K. Upon obtaining her Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) in 2016, Suk Chyi commenced her pupillage under the tutelage of Malik Imtiaz. She was admitted to practice as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in November 2017. Suk Chyi currently serves as a member of the Bar Council Task Force on IPCMC and Police Accountability.
